A lot of people ask me about the tools I use to help me run my business and I have done a couple of posts on this before. Of course, as time passes I find new tools that I love and use consistently, so I’m doing an update to my older tools posts to add in my newest loves.
First, for a quick recap: If you want to hear how I use Gmail’s multiple inboxes and Boomerang to keep all of my emails organized, check out my “Productivity Tools and Tricks” post. Basically, I have multiple email accounts that all come to one gmail inbox so that I can keep track of everything in one place and I use a gmail lab called multiple inboxes that helps me sort my emails in a way that works great for me. I also use an add-on called Boomerang that lets you set reminders for follow-up to emails and schedule emails to be sent later on. My Boomering plus multiple inboxes system in Gmail is pretty much how I run my entire life – business and personal.

- WordPress, inmotionhosting or godaddy, and Domain.com for my websites
- Skype and popexpert for meeting with clients
- 123print for marketing materials like business cards
- DropBox and Google Docs for staying organized
- BackBlaze to automatically back up everything on my computer
- Hootsuite for social media management
- The Canon Vixia HFR11, the Audio-Technica ATR3350 Lavalier Microphone, and Windows Movie Maker for my videos
Okay, now on to the new stuff.
First up is SumoMe. SumoMe is a tool from AppSumo that gives me ridiculously simple implementation of a bunch of cool tools for my website like a a smart bar and list builder that help me collect the email addresses of people who visit my site so that I can send them my free email newsletter – which you should definitely sign up for if you haven’t already, heat maps so I can see where people look when they visit my site, and many more cool tools. They offer a bunch of stuff that I love and would otherwise have to either pay for or know at least basic coding to be able to copy someone’s code into the right places on my site and make things look the way I want them to. With SumoMe, it requires no skill and gives me the look I want. I really have nothing to complain about there.
Additionally, because I use SumoMe I get periodic emails about some other really cool and/or useful stuff. Now, I know what you’re thinking: usually when you sign up for something and they start emailing you other offers it’s incredibly annoying, but the stuff from AppSumo is usually pretty darn cool. For example, that’s how I heard about my next tool, Snip.ly. Snip.ly is awesome because, as you all know, or at least I hope you know, if you follow me on social media I share lots of entrepreneurship articles from around the web that will be helpful to aspiring and current entrepreneurs as they plan, launch, and grow their businesses. I don’t just blast out my own content, I share way more from other people than I share from myself. Now, of course, I do this to be helpful and the vast majority of people will go read those articles and never even remember where they got the link from. No big, I’m happy to be helpful. However, Snip.ly now allows me to just add a little reminder when people get over to those awesome articles I share that they found them through me and give them an easy way to link back to my site if they want to. It’s not pushy or obtrusive, but it lets me have one more touch point, which is super important.
Finally, the last super useful tool I’ve added to my repertoire since the last tools post I made is Wise Stamp. Wise Stamp just allows me to have a super cute email signature that’s a bit more professional than the ones I used to make in Gmail. Game-changer? Probably not. Do I love it though? Yes.
